MADRID (AP) – The new MotoE series was suspended after a fire that caused "significant damage and loss" at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
Officials in the motorcycle series said that no injuries had been reported Thursday after the fire that destroyed the paddock built on the runway.
Spanish media announced that about twenty motorcycles had been destroyed while they were being recharged for the second day of testing on Thursday.
The cause of the fire was the subject of an investigation.
Trials began Wednesday and were expected to continue until Friday.
The season should begin the first weekend of May in Jerez.
The organizers said "changes to the calendar" were under study.
