Manchester United and Arsenal were interested in Miguel Almiron before signing for Newcastle United during the transfer in January.
Daniel Campos, who represents the former star of Atlanta United, told the ABC Cardinal Paraguayan radio station (h Metro): "Manchester United had shown interest in Miguel Almiron but they never offered.Arsenal and Southampton offered loan agreements to Miguel Almiron, but we did not want that it's a loan. "
The gunners' ties with Almiron go back to October, but the North London club has instead chosen to acquire Denis Suarez, on loan from Barcelona. Like Almiron, Suarez is an offensive midfielder with fast feet, technique and a keen sense of the pass.
Almiron used these qualities to attract the Pies twice. He was the star in consecutive 2-0 home wins against Huddersfield Town and Burnley, the latter coming on Tuesday.

The rapid start of Almiron 's life in Newcastle raises further questions as to Arsenal' s decision to take Suarez. This is a decision imposed on head coach Unai Emery, who admitted in January that the North London club could only allow loan signatures during the winter window.
The tax restrictions imposed by the Gunners left Newcastle free to pay 21 million pounds sterling to the club record to sign Almiron. It would not be a hard blow for Arsenal if Suarez had had more impact in the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal fans are still waiting to see Villarreal's former intriguer make his first start. Suarez has so far done only four appearances out of the seat. Emery revealed that he "needed time" to adapt, according to James Olley of London Evening Standard.
The lack of action means that Suarez has a lot to do to convince Gunners to exercise a purchase option worth 17 million pounds sterling. Suarez told the Arsenal YouTube channel (h / t Alex Smith of Daily Mirrorhe wants to "become an important player of the club".

Although he takes the time to make his mark, Arsenal has no obvious need for Suarez thanks to the great creativity of ranks. Alex Iwobi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey can all provide goals and aids.
It's a story similar to United, where Paul Pogba and Juan Mata can lead the last third and create opportunities. Even in this case, the Red Devils could use a player with the skills of Almiron to help offset a growing injury crisis.
United lacks a host of players, including Mata and versatile forwards Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard. Almiron's rhythm and insightful movement would make it an asset for acting director, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in various positions.
It is rather Newcastle that benefits from the exciting talents of the Paraguayan international. Ironically, if Almiron continues to play as well, the top six members of the Premier League will soon be looking back and showing more interest.
