Dream day at the end of the tennis week: Peter Heller wins at the Openberg in Überlingen

The twelfth edition of the berlingen Open may not have been better. By a fantastic tennis time, the center field was fully occupied during the final between last year's winner, Peter Heller and Louis Weels. About 700 spectators were on site. Some even positioned themselves on the closed bike path to watch the two best players of the week of the tournament.

However, the last day started at 10 am with the traditional brunch. Many visitors took the opportunity to start Sunday at the TC Berlingen tennis court. Musically, they were entertained by the specially composed "combo brasslinger polka".

Show double undercious viewers

As the double final scheduled by the association rules was to take place on Saturday – it was won by Valentin Guenther and Louis Weels – there was a double show for the first time before the grand final. 2007 world handball champion, Markus Baur, and actor and singer Mark Keller were present. They played against TC Berlingen President Michael Stehle and the two tennis professionals Mick Veldheer and Valentin Guenther. The public has seen a fun game.

Then come the final between the two best players, Peter Heller and Louis Weels. Quick led Heller and showed his fighting qualities. He returned almost every ball and waited for Weels' mistakes. This concept finally came to life, as with 6: 1 and 6: 4, Heller gave no chance to his opponent and managed to defend his title in berlingen.

Zeitler: "special event"

At the awards ceremony, all participants were full of praise. Mayor Jan Zeitler spoke of a "very special event" for which something special was to be found next year. Jrgen Hhnel of the Baden Tennis Association even suggested organizing the award ceremony at Lake Constance. The players were extremely positive about the professional environment. "You all have a place in my heart," said Louis Weels, visibly agitated, who said about the Berlingen Open: "It's the best week of the year for me. every year."

Markus Dufner: "It was a week of sensational tournament"

Immediately after the final, the SDKURIER spoke with the tournament director. Markus Dufner from MCD Sportmarketing on his conclusion and looks forward.

Mr. Dufner, how do you conclude the berlingen Open 2019?

Always positive. We had a week of sensational tournament with a full house all week, many interesting matches and especially a thrilling final. Not only are players amazed every year.

Were there any first comments?

We received an always positive response from the players, spectators and the association. Of course, we are very happy and it turns out that the whole effort is worth it year after year.

How do you organize every year such a positive tournament?

Of course, this is possible only with many partners, with the city, with the sponsors and especially with the two clubs TC Berlingen and TC Altbirnau. In the background, many people make sure the Berlings open up. We have established ourselves as the strong point of tennis on Lake Constance and offer a truly extraordinary atmosphere on the course.

Will the berlingen open in 2020?

We can be sure (laughs). I hope that the tournament has existed for many years.
