Leon Nahar, 16, of the HSB, was invited to the courses of the Dutch National Under-18 Team. This is not only proof of the good work of young people in the department.
Last season, Leon Nahar, still a junior, was one of the top scorers in the national U-18 league and proved his talent.
The 16-year-old now has this opportunity at a different level: Nahar is invited by the Dutch Basketball Association to attend two National Under-18 Team stages during the Pentecost holiday. If he is one of the twelve best players, he will compete this summer at the Junior European Championships in Greece. "I'm really happy with my nomination and I will do my best," said basketball player HSB. Leon Nahar follows in the footsteps of his father Mike, who has worn the jersey of the Dutch national team for many years.
For Petra Hackl, head of the basketball department, the lure of Nahar is "a big thing". "It's a great experience for Leon," said Hackl.
However, the basketball team also received confirmation of its good work from other associations, specifically from the country's basketball association: "As a reward for a work of exemplary youth, the HSB is awarded the Youth Promotion Award 2019 ", says the certificate. The prize, with a sum of money, is both a recognition and an incentive for the department.
