Christian Hackenberg's AAF debut did not go well.

The former Jets quarterback has only completed 10 of his 23 passes for 87 yards with an interception for the Memphis Express in his first game in the new Spring Football League. The team lost 26-0 to Birmingham Iron.

Hackenberg was eliminated when he attempted to pitch in midfield with his team trailing by three at the end of the first quarter and the ball near the middle of the field.

The 23-year-old finished the first period with only 20 yards passing and interception.

Hackenberg was replaced by substitute Brandon Silvers with just over four minutes to play. Silvers launched an interception during his first training.

The Jets selected Hackenberg outside of Penn State in the second round of the 2016 draft. But, he never played a game for New York and bounced around the NFL before ending up in the US. AAF.

The former Alabama star, Trent Richardson, scored two decisive touchdowns for Birmingham in the win.
