Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes was elected on Saturday, at age 23, and in his first season as the best player (MVP) in the 2018-19 season of the National Football League (NFL).

Mahomes is the youngest MVP in 35 years since the legendary Miami quarterback, Dan Marino, in 1984.

After playing only one game in the Chiefs jersey in 2017, he sparked in his second pro season, with 50 touchdowns in the regular season, for only 12 interceptions.

The Chiefs finished the regular season with the best record of NFL (12 v-4 d).

The first round of the play-offs, they dominated the Indianapolis Colts (31-13) in the second round, before suffering the penalty in the conference final of the New England Patriots in overtime (37-31).

During this evening organized in Atlanta on the eve of the Super Bowl between New England and the Los Angeles Rams, the trophy for best coach of the season went to Matt Nagy. He led the Chicago Bears in play-offs for the first time since 2010 (elimination in the first round by Philadelphia 16-15).

The Los Angeles Rams have received two trophies, the best defender awarded to Aaron Donald, and the best offensive line.

The New England Patriots, qualified for their third consecutive final, were not distinguished.

The best rookie of the season was awarded to Saquon Barkley, the New York Giants' running back, who added 2.028 yards of progress to the race. He is the third "rookie" only to exceed the threshold of 2,000 yards.
