SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – Javon McKinley, second-year catcher of the Notre Dame Redshirt, has been accused of assaulting two campus officers.

Court documents indicate that McKinley hit the police around 4 am Sunday while they were trying to help an Uber vehicle at his South Bend school dormitory. The police claimed that he had fainted in the car and that they smelled alcohol at the breath.

The Indianapolis Star reports that McKinley is charged with flogging and illegal drinking.

McKinley has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on February 28.

Our Lady's spokesperson, Dennis Brown, said: "The incident is handled by the criminal justice system."

McKinley is from Corona, California, and played four games last season.
